Introduction

On behalf of the Adesso Team, Welcome!  

We are so glad your vendor partner has made you part of their process to improve their trade promotion effectiveness! As their broker/sales agency partner, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring that our mutual friends’ promotions are accurate, committed with a contract once the customer confirms they will be executed as planned, and therefore resulting in effective deduction management and trade analysis. 

Our mutual vendor partner has chosen Adesso’s Flamingo TPE to ‘keep everything trade in one place’. You will be using Flamingo to commit deals and attach document & comments to your deals, which provides key information within Flamingo against each deal you’ve planned in the field 

You could think of this as recording “the receipts” for your vendor, so that they can have full scope and accurate financial record of their trade spend. We know documentation is critical to processing deductions, and having specifics attached to the deal makes processing deductions & contending with audits significantly more fluid -  so we ask that you include those administrative pieces in Flamingo, whether it’s: 

      • Email Authorizations                    •     Retailer Contracts & NIFs 
      • Copies of Flyers & Digital Ads     •     Proof of Performance 

Since a good portion of promotional activity is often coordinated through field sales relationships, it’s the broker’s responsibility to help give a clear picture of their planning activity at their major retail partners and support navigating the challenges of negotiating deals that are serviced through our distribution partners.  

Adesso’s Flamingo can do a lot of things for our manufacturers, so after you’ve done your planning in the portals & the submission deadlines are met, you have one more step before the next sale!

Getting Started in Flamingo 

 – Just a few quick steps & you’ll be on your way! In this guide, we’ll learn: 

  1. Searching & Filtering 
  2. Editing Existing Deals 
  3. Adding New Deals

Once you’ve logged in, the promos relevant to your territories & accounts that your Field Sales Managers had base promotional insights for should already be logged in the system. They will be reflected in the Overview tab or as Action Items to the left in your Dashboard tab.   

To find the deal or deduction you have support material for, you can either:  

  • Select one of the hyperlinked categories from your dashboard that best corresponds to your additions &Magnifying glass with solid fill filter. 
  • Or click either the Deal or Settlement tabs above & filter. 

  • You can then scroll through to the Deal# list that populates in the next window to find the Deal Item (promoted group) you wish to include your updates to, or you can Magnifying glass with solid fill filter.

Using Filters in Flamingo 

Save yourself some scrolling by leveraging our filters to find the deal or deduction you will supporting back up for. Save even more time in the future by saving your search filters for easy reference & reduced clicks. Start by selectingMagnifying glass with solid fill filter. The below window will populate.

Adding New Deals 

Simple Template Needs 

As you begin, below is a list of the basic insights needed for making a comprehensive deal in Flamingo. Fields reflected in yellow are required for completing an entry. 

How To 

Did you attend a Trade Show and write a few great pallet deals? Did you secure half a truckload for a big Summer Promotion with a newer retail partner? Adding a New Deal into Flamingo is easy! 

 

Editing Existing Deals 

Copying a Deal Line Item 

Do you approve of the old adage of ‘work smart, not hard’? There is likely a deal similarly built to your current needs, or you’ve just built a line you need to duplicate; it’s easy in Flamingo to save time by copying & editing a deal to another customer or a different period.  

Copying Multiple Deals 

Click on the Copying Existing icon in the Promotional header. A pop up will appear allowing you to copy deals across funds, customers & products. 

NOTE: You can also check the ‘Copy Over Entire FY’ box to bring over ALL promotional plans for that customer, fund, and product combination, however, understand that it will necessitate running an overnight batch.

Attaching Documents & Comments 

Uploading Attachments 

We all know it is important to be consistent in our deal maintenance. You’ve logged in with your back up emails, contracts, proof of performance, ad images, on hand and ready to upload as context for each deal & to help with AI matching in managing the deductions.  

 

At this point, you’ve filtered & searched, and have located your specific deal you need to supply file work for. You’ve double-clicked the hyperlink of the deal# to open & review. On your deal detail screen, you will see that there is a row of sub screens down at the bottom. The steps appear intuitively as you click. 

  • Click ‘Documents’ to add your back up.
  • Select ‘Add File’ from the upper left.
  • Select file(s) to upload. Youmay select multiple files at once.
  • Select the type of file it is from the dropdown, add a comment for context & click ‘Save’.

 

Comments for Context 

Back to the sub-menu on your deal detail screen, you'll see that in the row of sub screens down at the bottom, there is a ‘Comments’ section. The steps appear rather intuitively as you navigate. 

As an example, say there is something that you want to run, and you want to say: ‘Yes, run this again’, or ‘do not run them again’. Comments are free, you can leave as many as you want. You can add them by clicking in the yellow box as depicted above. You can include up to 4,000 characters. It also automatically records what date it was made, who it was made by, and what the comment was, so you can keep your notes pertinent to the deal. 

Calendar View 

Use your new filtering skills in the Deal Calendar sub-menu item under the Promotion/Deal tab to review your updates & deals from a simple calendar perspective.  

 

Simply select Customer, Product/Product Group & Timeframe & select ‘RUN’ to review your selected parameters.

You can determine the status of each deal in the color-coded legend at the bottom of the calendar view.

Reporting & Analysis 

For insights around deal performance, revenue, volume & spending, you can review these things in the Report tab.  A separate window will populate, and you can select from the list which report you wish to review, check the appropriate boxes & then Apply Filter. 

Your selected report will be generated inside the window to the right of your filters. You can then minimize the filter view by unpinning the Menu tab, expanding your report. You can also view the supplied data in a chart view as well as download & save a copy for your records by selecting the disc icon in the Export bar.
