Onboarding: How to add your Customer Hierarchy to Adesso

Introduction

In Adesso, customers can be grouped together in a hierarchical fashion for ease of planning and reporting. The customer hierarchy is intended to represent the sales organization structure.

In addition to grouping for planning purposes, the hierarchy structure is also used to simplify security and access rights for users.  When setting up users in Adesso, they are “granted access” to specific customers.  Customer access can be managed at the different hierarchy levels, which makes it easier to manage and maintain.

Workflow

Workflow Breakdown

  • Indirect/Ship-to
    • In the CPG industry, manfacturers will ship product to retailer distribution facilities, while invoicing the customer or “Bill-to”.  While most sales and promotional planning will happen at the customer level, there are times where promotions will be managed at the ship-to level for geographical considerations.  As such, Flamingo is expecting to include the ship-to customers within the hierarchy.
    • There are many retailers that do not have their own distribution systems and rely on wholesalers (or distributors) to distribute their products to retail outlets.  These are generally referred to as “Indirect Customers”.  While there are no sales directly to the indirect customer from the manufacturer, promotional plans are still maintained with those customers.  These customers need to be in Flamingo and associated with the customer (wholesaler) that they purchase product from.
  •  Customer (Bill-to)
    • The customer or bill-to is the primary level where most sales plans are managed. This will be the level where the invoicing and deductions occur, as well as, the sales forecasting and promotional planning.
  • Company Total
    • Finally, all the regional sales groups will “roll up” to a company total level.
